Look what I bought!

Well, I may not be able to knit, but I can still websurf and type with my left hand. So, with my free $30 gift voucher to amazon I bought.........



So at least I can sit with my gimpy hand and read up on knitting.

On the bench

I think I either have tendonitis or the beginnings of carpal tunnel syndrome. My wrist area is killing me and sometimes it shoots up my arm. Not getting any tingling or numbness, though. It hurts to type and knitting is impossible. So I'm going to have to sit this one out. Harumph.

The Knitting Answer Book

Books, Books, Books galore.



I loveeee this little book. I have to admit that I've bought more than my fair share of knitting books, but this little guy was well worth the investment. It answers basic questions but also has some good sections on common problems and fixes. I also like how it explains why certain stitches are used and how they create a particular look. There is also a nice section on finishing. I don't know if this book would be very good for a brand new knitter, because it assumes that you already know some basic things. And it turns out that they even have a "Crochet Answer Book." How 'bout that.

So this is the next book that I want - The Vogue Knitting Book. Haven't bought it yet only because it's a bit pricey. But I've heard good things about it.

My wrist and arm hurts from knitting too much! I guess that's what I get for being such a tight knitter. Harumph.
Anyway, since I can't knit anything tonite (it even hurts to type, dang), I've just been websurfing for free patterns. Here is one for this cute scarf:

R. Moss Stitch Scarf

Yarn: Karabella Cashmere, Superwash (but it says to handwash, and at these prices, you betcha I would.)
Pastel Pink, 3 skeins, Pink, 2 skeins
Substitute: Cashmere Bulky
Needles: Size 11

Cast on 23 stitches.
Row 1: *k1, P1*
Row 2 –*p1, K1*
Repeat until scarf is desired length.

Bind off.

Ruffle:
Pick up 23 stitches along edge top.
Row 1: K1
Row 2: purl
Row 3: knit into the front and back of every stitch
Row 4: purl

Repeat row 1 -3 once.
BO
Repeat on bottom edge.

I think I'll knit this up after I get these darn sweaters done...

So far, I have the back done. I really wish this pattern had been originally written in the round. If I ever make it again, I'll rewrite it so it works that way. I'm using Rowan Cotton Glace in Ecru, which I've decided is a very over-priced cotton yarn. At least it's easy to work with, but I think will lose it's shape too easily.....
